Tomozuna-beya (the Tomozuna-stable) was established in 1757 by Tomozuna Oyakata the first, Ryosuke Tomozuna. The 7th Oyakata (coach or stable head), Sadatoro Tomozuna, expanded Tomozuna-beya with the support of a famous japanese politician, Taisuke Itagaki.

Many rikishi (sumo wrestlers) from the stable have achieved great success, including Tachiyama (Yokozuna), Kunimiyama (Ozeki), Isenohama (Ozeki), Tachihikari (Ozeki).

The current Oyakata is the 11th Oyakata, former Sekiwake Kaiki.

Ozeki Kaio and seven other rikishi currently aim to reach the upper ranks and to realize their dreams as a sumo wrestlers. The Oyakata keeps an eye on each rikishi, and the bond among the members of the heya is tight and the atmosphere is warm and welcome.
